Our logo—a hand holding a vinyl record—represents our core philosophy. It symbolizes that music is something every student can discover, develop, and carry with them for a lifetime. With the right guidance, what once seemed out of reach becomes something they can confidently hold in their own hands.
Meet Jonathan Kim
Hope Music Studios was founded by Jonathan Kim, a music educator, performer, and mentor who has been teaching students since 2010.
Jonathan's musical journey began at a young age and included performing at Carnegie Hall with his middle school orchestra, leading worship bands, and performing at venues throughout Southern California. These experiences sparked a passion for sharing music with others that continues to shape every lesson today.
He earned a Bachelor of Music from Biola University and has spent more than a decade teaching private lessons, leading worship, directing music programs, and mentoring students of all ages. Throughout his career, Jonathan has taught piano, guitar, voice, bass guitar, and drums, helping hundreds of students build both musical skill and personal confidence.
After years of teaching in music academies and serving in church ministry, Jonathan founded Hope Music Studios with the vision of creating a music school where every lesson feels personal, encouraging, and inspiring. What began with just a small group of students has grown into a thriving community of families throughout North County San Diego who share a love for music and lifelong learning.
Our Teaching Philosophy
Every student learns differently, which is why every lesson is personalized.
Rather than following a one-size-fits-all curriculum, we take time to understand each student's interests, goals, and learning style. Students build a strong musical foundation while learning songs they genuinely enjoy, helping them stay motivated and excited to practice.
As students grow, they're encouraged to take on new challenges that strengthen both their musical abilities and their confidence. We believe that some of the greatest growth happens when students accomplish something they once thought was impossible.
